Parex Renders provide a key feature at a new development in North Lancashire by award winning luxury homes developer Story Homes.

Parex Monorex through colour render is being used for the exclusive High Wood development to provide feature panels and various elevations to give a decorative roughcast finish which echoes the typical appearance of rural properties in the surrounding villages of North Lancashire and South Cumbria.

Monorex offers a choice of application techniques but because of the desired finish is being spray applied, avoiding the usual issues and associated mixing and mess related to the traditional 'hurled' application technique. The colour Pale Yellow (J20) has been chosen to ensure continuity of appearance of the detached, semidetached, terraced and town houses and to complement the traditional stone and brickwork appearance of 197 new homes at the new scheme in the grounds of the former Lancaster Moor Hospital.

Render specialist Choice Render, of Bolton, Greater Manchester, is applicator for the project, with Parex materials being the preferred choice after sample panels were prepared for Story and the local Lancaster City planners.

A spray applied base coat of Monorex render is applied to the blockwork sections of the structure with Parex TV10 reinforcing mesh embedded to provide extra strength, followed by sprayed application of the Monorex top coat to provide good tensile resistance, followed by a sprayed textured top coat application of the Monorex to provide the required roughcast finish.

Simon Ashworth, Head of Commercial for Story Homes said: “Our Lancaster development is our first in Lancashire and we wanted to replicate the high quality of material specification that we adopt across all of our developments. We believe Parex render systems offers such quality, and also the flexibility in colour choice and finish, which will help to compliment our broad range of house types”.

The High Wood development is one of a wide number of Carlisle-based Story Homes projects currently under way in the North of England and Southern Scotland. The homebuilder has worked closely with the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) to bring the scheme to fruition.
